In Memory of David Edward Chesterton – September 19, 1930 – November 9, 2018
David came by his interest in watercolour naturally – both his parents were watercolourists.
He studied at the Leicester College of Art in England, came to Canada in 1956 and worked as Art Director at Procter & Gamble. He returned to Leicester University, College of Education, to study Painting and Pottery and subsequently, taught Colour and Creativity, to Graphics and Package Design students at Humber College and Durham College. On retirement David renewed his love affair with painting and began writing. He used watercolours as a form of meditation; taught drawing to handicapped children; presented workshops on Colour and Creativity and Portraiture. At his time of passing at age 88, he’d been working on his 10th book.
Farewell sweet David. You have ‘slipped the surly bonds of earth’.
