This workshop will provide you with the opportunity to make a hand-built piece of pottery.  During the workshop, Ann will instruct the participants by way of demonstration, discussion and a hands-on session aimed at producing hand-built pottery. The pieces produced in the workshop will be bisque fired at Ann’s studio  and available for pick up a couple of weeks after the workshop.  If you are interested in exploring pottery making, or simply feel that an opportunity to work in three dimensions will enhance your artistic skills, then give this workshop a try.

Ann Randeraad has been involved in clay for more than 20 years.  Her love of drawing was the core of her art for many years.  Ann works from both her studio in the Alton Mill Arts Centre and her home studio, Elan Studios.  Locally Ann is known as the founder for Empty Bowls Alton, a fundraising venture where potters donate the bowls, chefs donate soup and all the funds raised to local food banks.  Ann’s work includes sculpture and wall pieces, and functional pieces such as mugs, bowls, platters and pitchers, salad bowl sets, yunomi sets and one of a kind sinks.

Over the last several years, Ann has had a number of two person and solo shows revealing her continued growth in form, surface treatment, and glaze development. Having recently completed the building of a large fastfire wood kiln, Ann will continue to investigate her love of surface development through layering of glazes, glazing techniques, and palette development.

Please arrive 15 minutes early to allow time for set up.  Tea/Coffee and snacks will be complimentary, but please bring your own lunch.

Materials List: All the materials for this workshop will be provided.  Participants may want to bring objects to create surface textures.

Please bring a plastic sheet to cover the table as well as a sketchbook and notepad.
