Description

Painterly Street Scenes with Sherryl Hopper

Come and spend a day painting with Sherryl Hopper. Sherryl will provide a watercolour demonstration of a street scene with people, umbrellas and buildings, using a loose and free style with fewer strokes to create a fresh and interesting painting. Sherryl will also be available to provide individual guidance and coaching as needed. This workshop is suitable for Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced level watercolour painters. You can see examples of Sherryl’s work at www.artonbayview.com

Artist’s statement

By its very nature, watercolour is an art form of contrast; it takes discipline to hone a technique that in its execution is undisciplined. Through her watercolours, Hopper plays with the friction between light and dark, creating images that are stark, yet human and inviting.

Suggested Supplies:

Quality watercolours (already in a palette) mostly transparent

Burnt Sienna, Cobalt blue, French Ultramarine,

Quin Red, Alizaren Crimson,

Hansa yellow or cad yellow, indigo, and any other colours that you like to use

Artist grade watercolour paper (Arches, Fabriano) 140 lb.

A support board, tape, water container, spray bottle, paper towels

A variety of brushes (flats and rounds)

A plastic sheet to cover the table.

Reference Material will be supplied or you can bring your own.

A note of encouragement to our Artistic Family from OAG's Robert Norman:

Hi my fellow Artists ..

Just a quick note to wish everyone well in these trying times. I guess if nothing else, there is no excuse not to be creative in your art pursuits ready for the next exhibition, Which I’m sure by the time it’s scheduled to happen, it will be a go.

It’s very restrictive not to be able to go anywhere, unless on the very odd occasion, dressed up as a zombie, but hopefully it will force many of us to spend a bit more time relaxing ... even being extremely busy doing .... nothing ... as I seem to be doing a lot of, of late ..lol

So, hope everyone is well, and please stay safe.. we don’t want to lose any of the Brilliant artistic talents of the group.

Very best wishes .. Happy painting .... Robert (and Tiggy🐈)
